This is a traditional Sesshin (meditation retreat), with periods of sitting and walking meditation, daily Dharma talks, Buddhist services, and dokuson (formal practice interview with Norman).

Please make your $150 deposit payable to Everyday Zen, and mail it to: Andrea Jacoby, 431 Belvedere, San Francisco, CA 94117, with a copy of the application.

Room and board costs: double $485; single $585; commuter  $225 (maximum of 10 commuters). Single rooms are limited, so please let the registrar know if you have special needs or requests for a single. As always, scholarships are available, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Please feel free to speak to Andrea about this.                                                                                       The teachings are offered without charge; a separate contribution/dana for the teacher is greatly appreciated.

We will be having oryoki meals, a traditional Zen form for eating, in the dining room. If you have bowls and cloths, please bring them. If you don’t, we will have sets for sale for $35. If you can not afford to purchase one we will have a few sets we can lend. Oryoki instruction will be provided at the start of sesshin.


If you would like to offer the wholehearted practice of cooking during sesshin, please notify the Registrar & Peter van der Sterre (vdscon@gmail.com). Please note, while all crew members will sit zazen daily, the primary zendo for this crew will be the kitchen.
