Mar de Jade is a resort and retreat center on the Pacific Ocean near a small Mexican village 70 miles north of Puerto Vallerta. Dr. Laura Del Valle, a longtime Zen student, operates the center to support her local clinic for campesinos.

Dr Del Valle writes: We have an excellent relationship with our neighbors here in Chacala as well as nearby farming towns. A percentage of Mar de Jade’s income and staff time is dedicated to supporting projects we have founded: a primary-care community clinic, a legal-aid project, a scholarship fund for young people, and an emergency fund for families in distress. Also, thanks to guest donations and labor, we also have a local house-building project for low-income families and a children’s library.
