July-August 2014 Everyday Zen Dharma Seminar

Aug 27th 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Please note that after the session on June 25th, the Seminar will be taking a break until July 30th.

The Dharma Seminars are an intimate way for Bay Area students to study and practice together.

Dharma Seminar Topic: We’ll resume with a study of the great Soto Zen philosophical poem Sandokai, as interpreted by Shohaku Okamuira in his book Living by Vow. This past year we studied all the other chapters of that great book, and with this seminar we’ll complete it in five sessions (Sue Moon will lead July 30, Alan Block August 6, and Norman will be back for the remainder of the month, Aug 13,20,27).

The evening includes a period of zazen followed by lecture and small and large group discussion generally centered around a classical text. Our emphasis is always on the application of the teachings to daily life, and there are often practices assigned through the week.

Students are asked to commit to attending all meetings in the calendar month.

Suggested donation is $100 for the month.

The seminars are held at the Community Congregational Church in Tiburon.
